The
Westerham Brewery celebrated their first anniversary with two medals
at the Society of Independent Brewers (SIBA) SE Beer Competition
at the Ealing Beer Festival in London. British Bulldog 4.3% picked
up the Gold Medal in the Best Bitter 4.0 - 4.5% category and Black
Eagle Special Pale Ale 3.8% was awarded the Bronze Medal for Speciality
Beers. British Bulldog will now go forward to the National Finals
in Bristol in 2006.
Since starting to sell their beers in June 2004 the Westerham Brewery
has brewed 91 gyles or batches totalling 1000 brewery barrels or
288,000 pints. Four main beers are brewed on a regular basis and
several seasonal beers are also produced. The current seasonal is
Summer Perle 3.8% which was the fastest selling beer at last year's
Maidstone Beer Festival. It was originally brewed for the Kent CAMRA's
30th (Pearl!) Anniversary Beer Festival at Canterbury in 2004.
